Women@Venture

Diversity is a key driver of innovation. The Venture Business Plan competition series strives to attract diversity along many dimensions including industry, region, and, of course, gender. Following this principle, we are delighted to announce the Women@Venture 2010 event, which is organized by CTI and will take place on February 4, 2010 in the evening starting at 18:00 at McKinsey & Company, Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich.
The interactive discussions will center around the specific challenges women entrepreneurs face. On hand will be women who have started their own companies and investors. They will be sharing their experiences on topics such as going from an idea to a business, entrepreneurial leadership styles and incorporating sustainability in any business.

Workshops

Examine your business plan again and again. You'll learn in special workshops what you need to pay attention to in each chapter of this important document. The workshops are free, but you must register for them.

"Marketing" workshop Each business activity can be more or less reduced to either the manufacture or purchase of a product and its sale, or to the offer and sale of a service.

Everything connected in the widest sense of the word to “selling” is referred to as marketing. Especially important for you initially is the market analysis. How large is the market? What are the main customer segments? What is the competitive situation? What is the marketing strategy? Which product or which service should be offered? How high should the price be? How to promote sales? Which distribution channels should be used?

In the "Marketing" workshop you'll do, together with experts in the field, a deep dive into the marketing aspects of your venture. During working sessions with several coaches you will analyze and improve the marketing chapter in your business plan.

"Financing" workshop Careful financial planning is the core of a solid business plan. The financial section of the business plan is, in the end, where the financial backer decides for or against an investment. Therefore, pay very special attention to financing when you’re preparing your business plan.

In the "Financing" workshop you'll do, together with experts in the field, a deep dive into topics such as financial planning, company valuation, and venture capital. During working sessions with several coaches you will analyze and improve the financing chapter in your business plan.

"Business plan booster" workshop Developing a solid business plan takes time. The "Marketing" and the "Financing" workshops laid the first foundation stones. The "Business plan Booster" workshop offers you the opportunity to intensively rework and further develop your business plan with the support of coaches and to complete it as far as possible. In Zurich, teams can sign up for up to 3 sessions depending on their coaching need. In Lausanne the event only takes place at one single date. These days will be informative and also fun!

Dates

"Communication" workshop The business plan is not the objective but rather the means to achieving your objective – namely, to convince financiers, strategic partners and, not least, potential customers, of the merits of your business idea so that together you can found a successful company. The "Communication” workshop prepares you to persuasively communicate your business idea.

The communication workshop is only open to teams that have been nominated to present their business plans to the Advisory Board.
