Ulrich currently holds the position of Director of External Innovation at Johnson & Johnson. In his role he is responsible for platform technology and asset evaluation to identify promising business opportunities for J&J. He is a scientist by training and holds a PhD in biochemistry from the RWTH Aachen (Germany). Prior to joining J&J he did his postdoctoral training at the Scripps Research Institute (USA) and held positions of increasing responsibility at MRC-Technology (UK) and at Covagen AG an ETH spin-off that was acquired by J&J in 2014. Ulrich is a drug developer with 15 years of experience within academia, the biotech industry and large pharma. His main goal is to drive scientific innovation to tackle the most pressing medical challenges with a scientific focus on large molecules (Antibodies, Bispecifics) and new modalities like siRNAs/mRNAs and cell and gene therapies.
