We asked our Health & Nutrition winners Inanna Fertility a few questions about their ambitions and their experience launching their startup!
Could you explain what your startup does in a few sentences?
Our vision is to revolutionize in-vitro-fertilization “IVF” with the help of AI. We provide data-driven algorithms to fertility clinics supporting all major steps of the IVF process based on the collective experience of successful and failed IVF cycles through one of the world’s largest fertility datasets. We strive to dramatically improve success rates, lessen the emotional, financial and medical burden of IVF, and create a new clinical standard based on personalized treatment recommendations. In a nutshell: it’s baby making powered by AI!
What is something you wish you knew when you started putting together your business?
Listen to constructive criticism, but don't let negative opinions set you back. Stick to your mission and pursue your strategic goals with heart and mind.
What plans do you have for your startup in the next several months?
Close our seed financing round and finalize our first product for the upcoming launch. We are also extending our team and with that we probably need to move out of our tiny office into a slightly bigger place. You know, classic startup things.
What is it like to start a business in the middle of a pandemic?
The COVID pandemic caused a disruption to our work with hospitals, but we nevertheless were able to sign a partnership contract with one of the largest IVF clinic groups in the world. It was also hard as our team was continuously growing and there was a long period of time when we were not allowed to sit together in front of the whiteboard to brainstorm and develop ideas or just crack each other up during coffee breaks. It was a never ending period of just zoom calls, which was not always easy.
What are you most excited about with regards to your project?
The direct feedback we receive from both clinics and patients. Working with an exceptional, fun team. Learning new things nearly every day. And slowly, step-by-step seeing our vision and product come to life.
