1. You can learn how to protect your ideas. This one is a no brainer. Maybe you have a great idea, or perhaps you’ve dedicated years of research and work in a lab. It’s worth exploring how to best protect your intellectual property. There are patents, trademarks, copyrights and more. 2. Your success depends on your IP strategy. That’s a bold statement- we know. But the truth of the matter is that your intellectual property is a company asset and should be managed as such. Even if you don’t want to own your IP, you do need to understand how this can impact your business. This means you need to develop your IP strategy just like you would for any other business asset. It’s also possible that by the time you’ve reached success with your startup, it might be too late to backtrack on the IP front- therefore, understanding and planning ahead are key.
